Kinkuna is a coastal locality in the Bundaberg Region, Queensland, Australia.[2] In the 2021 census, Kinkuna had a population of 105 people.[1]
Geography[edit]
The North Coast railway line runs along the western boundary of the locality entering the locality from the south-west (Goodwood / Woodgate), passing through Kinkuna railway station (25°03′10″S 152°23′45″E / 25.0529°S 152.3959°E) and Gotlow railway station (24°59′33″S 152°22′59″E / 24.9924°S 152.3831°E), before exiting to the northwest (Alloway).[3][4][5]
Gotlow is a neighbourhood in the north-west of the locality near the Gotlow railway station (25°00′00″S 152°23′00″E / 25.0000°S 152.3833°E).[6]
History[edit]
Gotlow takes its name from the Gotlow railway station, which was named on 3 April 1913 by the Queensland Railways Department and is an Aboriginal word meaning koala.[6]
The locality takes its name from the Kinkuna railway station which was named by the Queensland Railways Department on 9 April 1941. Kinkuna is an Aboriginal word meaning "laughing".[7]

In the 2016 census Kinkuna had a population of 111 people.[8]
In the 2021 census, Kinkuna had a population of 105 people.[1]
