Errors

I have never seen so many grammar errors on an article. - --Bdj95 15:19, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:WS4000Almanac.jpg

Image:WS4000Almanac.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Cable companies using the STAR 4

I deleted the section because it's unencyclopedic and the list never cited any sources. --Moreau36 11:08, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

VANDALISM

Can someone PLEASE remove the false info and lock this page down?! PLEASE?!! Thank you. Sponge1987 (talk) 06:49, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

4000 AIR QUALITY DISCOVERY

I added new info on the 4000's air quality segment (which was only available in southern CA). The info was based on a screencap shown here: [1]. The screencap is the last in a series in a post made by site user Moose81(I mean Taiganet, not Wikipedia). His post is near the bottom of the page. weatherstar4000 19:45, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Emulator

I took the section out about the emulator because as of 7/5/08 the emulator isn't available for download anymore, its just a message board. That stinks because I really wanted that emulator.--72.154.223.249 (talk) 23:12, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Canada

In addition to the preexisting overhaul of the article that I performed recently, I have added Canadian 4000 information to the bottom of the page, between the U.S. cable list and the references. The Canadian 4000 section includes a new image and 12 new video references. Raymie Humbert (TrackerTV) (receiver, archives) 04:29, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Size

Should this be split or at least condensed? It's 42 KB. Raymie Humbert (TrackerTV) (receiver, archives) 05:43, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

RfC: Decreasing size

I need advice on debulkifying this 35 KB article. I removed some listcruft on the Travel Cities Forecast and it lost 7 KB to where it is now. (It was 42 KB.)

The bottom half of the article doesn't even line up in the browser frame, thanks to a bulging table that is shoe-horned full of needless trivia. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a technical almanac or service/repair ledger. This article is ridiculous. - Ciramiddle (talk) 17:12, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

This is a awfully big article!

This is a awfully big article! My God,it has 76 sources or links to websites, the majority of the links going to YouTube. I think this article needs to be trimmed down by a lot. I mean, do we really need a giant list of where there are Weatherstar 4000 machines still in use? I think not. I think I may start with removing that whole chunk of useless info. Plus how do we know if they are still in use every single day of the year? And why is it important that they are still in use? Also I hate reading this article because it seems that after every sentence there is extra information in parenthesis. It seems like this article on Wikipedia has become some giant fan page or instruction manual. It is ridiculous. I'm going to try to start trimming it down. 76 references with the majority going to YouTube is totally Unnecessary.--BeckiGreen (talk) 19:39, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Removed

I removed the giant section about where there are Weather Star 4000's still in use. Listing one or two cable markets that use it is fine, but there is no need to list EVERY Weather Star 4000 still in use. I checked the sources or links and most ,if not all of them go to old YouTube videos from 2009 for example,or the links go to Weather Channel fan pages. I think it is also considered original research, which I believe is not allowed anyway. Also listing every single Wetaher Star 4000 in use does not add anything to the article, all it does is chew up space. One or two in use is fine, but not a entire section, and on top of that it also listed each possible glitch the machine may or may not have.--BeckiGreen (talk) 20:29, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

I am also removing the section titled Product Playlists. It has three links, all which are dead.--BeckiGreen (talk) 23:37, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

I am thinking about removing the Weather Star 4000 timeline in the U.S section since it has been tagged since 2006. Keep the pictures and instead write something like- The Weather Star 4000 was in use from 1990 until 2005. It is too confusing the way it is written and it is overly detailed. Same thing with the section called Weather Star 4000 and The Weather Network/MétéoMedia. Maybe just have a paragraph of info, instead of listing how it has this font and this color and this and this, blah blah blah.--BeckiGreen (talk) 00:10, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Notice for anyone that wants to help or anyone that is interested.

I am going to start working on this page to reduce the size, and to remove the trivia on Weather Star 4000. I like the Weather Channel, That is why I came to this page, to learn more about it, but upon reading it, I have seen how huge and fan like the page is so I am going to try to clean it up. I apologize to anyone that created or worked on this page. I am not trying to be mean and undue your work, its just that the page has multiple issues. I think I will also try to improve the other Weather Channel related articles on Wikipedia if they need it. If anyone wants to help out, I would appreciate it, as I usually only fix things on Wikipedia like grammar or vandalism.--BeckiGreen (talk) 19:21, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

I completely understand your viewpoint. The list has also helped many readers go view 4000s for themselves if they wanted to see one, so is there somewhere we could put the list up? Yes, I understand it's trivial and potentially nonfactual, but because of its rare status, I think the list should be kept up somewhere. --ZLMedia 10:12, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

I love the Weather Star 4000 too! I think those were the good old days of the weather channel and I wish they still used the Weather Star 4000. How about instead of a big list, just give a couple of examples of where it is still in use at,with links that prove that it is being used by such and such cable company in the year 2012. I apologize if I am not talking about the same list that you are. I don't own this page so you can add things too. My only problem was that the list was huge. I actually go to YouTube quite a bit and watch clips of the Weather Star 4000. I used to love watching the Weather Channel when they used the Weather Star 4000. I used to watch it during the day,and to fall asleep to at night. If I am correct, didn't Trammell Sparks provide the music when the Weather Star 4000 was being used? Maybe you could add that to the article if that is correct. In fact, that is why I love soft jazz, because of the Weather channel. Also can you find a source or link about Dan Chandler being the narrator, if he was the voice of the Weather Star 4000? I thought he had a excellent voice.--BeckiGreen (talk) 04:39, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Per the AFD discussion, this article should be merged into Weather Star at the earliest convenience. Afterwards, this article should become a direct to that article. This talk page can be left as is, or optionally histmerged (not recommended). Dennis Brown |  | WER 18:24, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Any opinions on whether almost everything should be moved to Weather Star prior to converting to a redirect, just the opening section should be moved, or if only material supported with citations to reliable sources (i.e. none) should be moved? There's already a paragraph on the WS4000 in the section Weather Star#Former systems. Agyle (talk) 18:48, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
